OPENING RECEPTION Saturday 6 December, 6-9pm

Crawl Space is pleased to present CURRENT WORKS, focusing on the new directions and explorations in the current studio practice of its member artists. This exhibition follows rounds of studio visits between the artists as a period of intensive art making at the end of the current year.

Matt Browning creates sculptures exploring how masculine ritual, sport, conquest and competition inform male identity.

Diana Falchuk explores, through a variety of media, the power of human care and connection by reviving, personifying or creating new contexts for objects that are past their prime.

Anne Mathern examines the nuance of identity in culture by synthesizing rooted notions of spirituality with bits of iconoclastic subculture through her work in photography, video and sound.

Jennifer Towner explores her own everyday obsessions and neuroses through ritual sculptures and documented performances.

Chad Wentzel renounces intellectual elitism in art by employing craft-based techniques. His sculptural installations investigate the cul-de-sac culture of “white” America by fabricating work using methods familiar to the culture.
