MAPPING

Eroyn Franklin
Jenene Nagy

17 May - 8 June 2008
Opening Reception 6-9pm Saturday 17 May

Jenene's recent work is a sort of painting-sculptural hybrid, using the immediate gallery setting to house 2D and 3D growths of jagged, brightly-colored reduced landscapce scenes. Travelling from wall to stilts, these expanses play between scenic painting and structure.

Eroyn's recent work includes a series of selected maps which she's altered by hand-cutting and removing all but her intended subject. There is a map of the British Empire as only streets. There is a map of waterways. There is a map of New Orleans with only those streets remaining that touch Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River.
