Crawl Space is pleased to present the first non-time-based sculptural works by member artist TONY WEATHERS in which he focuses on object as representation of the American psyche.
"Fencing Youth" (pine, masonite, cedar) explores a physical division between two fabricated environments that represent contrasting states of mind.
"Guns N' Butter" (brass rods, butter) is a visual comparison of objects representing human wants, needs, and investment choices. Permanence and impermanence is explored through medium and form.
Tony Weathers incorporates sculptural elements into his video work, focusing on the nuances of leisure and productivity in the American cultural landscape. Fencing Youth is Tony's first exhibition of purely sculptural works not based on a time-based element.
Tony received his BFA from Cornish College of the Arts in 2000 and has since been granted the Artist Trust GAP and Fellowship, apprenticed for Gary Hill Studios, and exhibited throughout Seattle and in Europe.
