Crawl Space is a nonprofit artist-run exhibition space dedicated to cultivating innovative artwork by early career artists. Since opening our doors in 2003, Crawl Space has presented new works by more than 175 artists, at no charge to a public audience of over 4,000.
Crawl Space member artists are committed first and foremost to actively developing and exhibiting their own artwork. As the curatorial force of the gallery, they review proposals and submissions, planning the gallery’s exhibition schedule and taking on curatorial projects.
Member artists commit to bi-monthly meetings, alternating between the artist group and the entire membership, currently taking on both curatorial and administration tasks. Artist member dues are $60 monthly, with a one-year minimum commitment.
Crawl Space foundation members sustain and develop exhibitions and programming as the gallery’s administrative core. With specialties such as fund development, grant writing, facilities management, website development, and curatorial studies, foundation members increase Crawl Space’s effectiveness as a contemporary art center.
